Tina Nguyen was born and raised in Goettingen, Germany, where she received her first piano lesson with Mrs. Barbara Schaefer at the age of 7. She entered several competitions in different categories and won several first prizes.
Not feeling fulfilled with her day job in the media business, she reconnected to her passion for music and aimed to enter music university. Though she did not have piano lessons for 6 years, her hard work paid off and she got accepted for the class of Prof. Yumiko Maruyama at the Robert Schumann Music University in 2011. She graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor in Music Education focussing on piano playing and early musical education. To enhance her musical abilities she continued with a master’s degree in Concert Piano and Chamber Music. She successfully graduated in 2017 with honours.
Her very different first carreer path forced her to start anew with piano playing. This gave her a deeper understanding of learning, which helps her to better identify her students‘ struggles, help and support them in their progress.
She has many years of experience teaching in private and municipal music schools as well as in private lessons. She has worked with adults and children starting the age of 4 and has also taught group and chamber music lessons.
Tina Nguyen moved to Vancouver in 2018 and has deeply fallen in love with the city since.
